User Experience Librarian

Through the use of innovative approaches and emerging
technologies, the Librarian will design new and expanded assessment activities
in a collaborative environment to assist in the development of quality user-
centered services and programs that meet the needs of the University
community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Design and conduct qualitative user needs/usability studies utilizing
various methods (including, but not limited to online surveys, card sorting,
interviews, focus groups, and observations) to assess user needs, preferences
and trends.
2. Participates in providing information services including reference, library
instruction, and serving as a liaison to an assigned disciplinary area.
3. Collaborates with librarians and staff across the organization to design
and implement assessment initiatives
4. Performs other duties assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree in Library Science or any related discipline. Knowledge of
program planning and evaluation, research design, data analysis, and policy
implementation. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills,
leadership skills, organizational skills and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of operations, services, key issues and trends in
academic libraries.
PREFERRED
QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong working knowledge of standards for assessment in higher
education. Project coordination
experience. Experience with qualitative research methods
and tools. Experience providing reference and instruction
services.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Customer service, organizational and time management skills
required. Competency with Microsoft Outlook; MS Office,
including Access; Windows Operating System and file
management. Evidence of excellent oral and written
communication skills; technology skills and demonstrated successful leadership
and the ability to work productively with a wide range of individuals and
groups.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Standard office conditions. This position may work non-
traditional hours such as nights, weekends, and possibly some holidays
depending on the needs of the University Libraries. In
addition, professional development, conferences, and training may require some
travel. This is a non-tenure track position.
