Dear colleagues,
The German National Library of Economics - Leibniz Information Centre for Economics has published version 9.0 of its STW Thesaurus for Economics<http://zbw.eu/stw>. This relaunch marks the end of a complete revision of STW according to the current terminology usage in the latest international research literature in economics. Furthermore, the number of additional entry terms to search in EconBiz<http://econbiz.de/> has been extended considerably.
The STW is the world's most comprehensive thesaurus for search and content indexing in economics. Developed in the mid-1990s, it has since been continuously developed by the ZBW according to the latest language usage in international economics. Available in German and English, the STW consists of over 6,000 subject headings and more than 20,000 synonyms. The STW is developed by an interdisciplinary team of experts which is also responsible for the technical maintenance of STW, including its integration into cross-linked information environments and the development of innovative web services. Published as one of the first thesauri in the Linked Open Data cloud, the STW contains links to other vocabularies, as for example the Integrated Authority File, the Thesaurus for the Social Sciences and AGROVOC.
The STW is used by the ZBW and other libraries and infrastructure services for the indexing of literature and research data in economics. Researchers use the STW to search in the ZBW search portal for economics EconBiz and to index their own literature and research data. It can be used from inside a content management system to organize documents, blogs or web sites. Additionally, it can be used as a hub to access other vocabularies available on the web.Since the end of 2014, the STW is available under the free Open Database License (ODbL1.0). You may download<http://zbw.eu/stw/versions/latest/download> STW and its mappings, access its Web Services<http://zbw.eu/beta/econ-ws> or SPARQL endpoint<http://zbw.eu/beta/sparql/stw>.
