Electronic Resources Metadata Specialist (William Paterson University, New

Job Code 624ALA William Paterson University invites applications for a twelve
month tenure-track position as an Electronic Resources Metadata Specialist.
Working under the direction of the Coordinator of Bibliographic Services, this
position is responsible for providing original and complex copy cataloging of
all electronic resources, as well as a variety of other formats, using MARC,
RDA, AACR2, LCCS/LCSH, OCLC and the Voyager integrated library
system. S/he resolves discrepancies, develops and
implements best practices for batch processing routines, especially in the
area of emerging formats, including metadata standards such as
Bibframe. The successful candidate participates in
departmental planning and projects, as well as the User Education and Liaison
programs. Serves on Library, University, regional and
national committees as appropriate. ALA-accredited MLS, or equivalent (by time
of appointment) is required. A second graduate degree is required for tenure.
Additional requirements include advanced course work or
experience in cataloging; familiarity with established and emerging metadata
standards; demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member;
excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills; strong
commitment to service and professional development. Experience cataloging
digital and non-print materials in an ILS (Voyager preferred); familiarity
with creating queries and reports using Microsoft Access or similar tool is
preferred. William Paterson University is a public institution of higher
