Library Web Developer
St. Edward's University

**Overview**  
The web developer is responsible for the development, evolution and analytics
of the library's web properties. The position reports to the Library Director.
We're looking for a Web Developer who is passionate about solving problems and
building terrific web sites. If you have an eye for code quality and
efficiency, a strong work ethic, like to have fun, and you love to work with
cutting-edge technologies and enjoy being challenged on a daily basis, we want
you.

In this job, you will collaborate with a front end developer and a digital
projects manager. Together you will juggle multiple projects in a nimble,
start-up-like environment. You will be asked to use creativity and imagination
to think about the big picture and learn new skills, as the job has the
potential to grow with you.

build the academic library of the 21st Century.

  
**Responsibilities**

  * Keep abreast of current trends in technology as relevant to the academic library's web presence, and plan and implement innovative digital projects to meet the needs of the library.
  * Work with the Digital Projects Manager and the front end designer, as well as University IT, to design and manage user experience (UX) across virtual spaces in response to user experience testing.
  * Collaborate with the University Web Team to constantly evolve the library's web presence (including adaptive and responsive Drupal and Wordpress instances, Canvas integration, etc.) and monitor and recommend web-based technologies to enhance the library's web presence and user access
  * Collect and leverage analytics data
  * Works closely with library staff composed of a Digital Projects Manager and a Front End Designer
  * Communicates openly with supervisor and colleagues
**Required Qualifications**

  * Undergraduate or graduate degree in areas such as library and information science, computer science, information systems, design, or equivalent
  * Two years' professional experience with web development
  * Demonstrated familiarity with developing and maintaining dynamic data-driven websites with relevant standards and technologies such as PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
  * Experience with APIs
  * Experience using and programming in a CMS, like Drupal
  * Demonstrated strong interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written
  * Demonstrated initiative and good judgment in a variety of situations
  * Ability to adapt, and openness to implementing emerging new technologies in a rapidly evolving environment
  * Ability to excel at all aspects of project management: ability to articulate what users need, determine scope and priority of projects, communicate effectively, determine appropriate usability tests and possess the ability to design solutions to address quality
  * Demonstrated accuracy, organizational ability, and attention to detail in an environment that requires multitasking
  * Possess good time management and organizational skills to complete assigned tasks without close supervision
  * Strong customer service orientation including ability to work effectively with library staff and university faculty
  * Demonstrated ability to think critically, analytically and innovatively
  * Successful completion of an employment and/or criminal background check required.
**Preferred Qualifications**  

  * Library experience
  * Higher Education experience
  * Knowledge of discovery systems
  * Familiarity with library data standards and protocols
  * Experience with User Testing
