Digital Assets Coordinator

Hagley Museum and Library in Wilmington, DE, seeks a fulltime Digital Assets
Coordinator. Hagley is an independent research library devoted to documenting
the history of American business, technology, and industrial design.
The successful candidate will work in the Library's Audiovisual Collections
and Digital Initiatives Department to assist us in our mission to produce,
preserve, and provide access to digital records for current and future
generations of researchers. Hagley has a significant collection of digital
surrogates that are available at digital.hagley.org and a growing collection
of borndigital records offline. The Digital Assets Coordinator will work with
the Curator of Audiovisual and Digital Collections to ensure longterm access
and preservation of Hagley's digital records collections.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
* Serve as Hagley's manager of borndigital records and digital surrogates; facilitate their creation/acquisition, processing, storage, and preservation.
* Manage and facilitate access to electronic records via Hagley's digital asset management infrastructure.
* Manage a large and growing collection of surrogates produced from Hagley's analog collections; manage digitization and processing projects; assist with selection and oversee metadata for archived web content; migrate borndigital data to preservation formats; and produce metadata for digital content.
* Supervise and train interns and volunteers supporting digital collection projects.
* Train staff on using digital tools for processing and preservation.
REQUIREMENTS:
* Masters degree in library science or public history, with a concentration in archives management or a graduate degree in a related field or significant and relevant work experience.
* Working knowledge of platforms for storing and managing digital assets (experience with Islandora is highly preferred).
* Ability to identify, install, and configure digital tools to improve processing workflow, access, and preservation of digital assets.
* Thorough knowledge of current trends in the archival profession in regards to erecords and digital asset management.
* Project management experience.
PREFERENCES:
* Significant work experience in an historical or cultural institution. Prior archival experience or demonstrated ability to process, preserve, and service collections, particularly electronic records.
* Experience digitizing and creating metadata for a wide variety of formats, including moving picture images and sound recordings.
* Experience with the following: Amazon AWS, Drupal, XTF, Archivist's Toolkit / ArchivesSpace, Archivematica, FTK, BitCurator, Python, Open Refine, TreeSize, DROID, JHOVE, Cygwin, and other software and platforms that serve similar functions.
* Knowledge of metadata standards such as MODS, BEXT, EAD, Dublin Core, MARC XML, PBCore, and IPTC.
* Basic programming/scripting experience.
