Position Summary:
-Create, populate, maintain, manage preserve, and promote usage of an institutional repository. Assist in the development of appropriate policies
-Work closely with faculty, staff, library colleagues, and other units across UND and, as appropriate, NDUS and ODIN and other groups, to provide assistance with research data management and curation, with digital humanities works and collections, with Citizen Science initiative, and with any other digital initiatives that arise and are deemed appropriate for the libraries to play a role in. In many instances, but not always, the developed collections may be hosted in the institutional repository regardless, the Digital Initiative Librarian shall provide appropriate assistance..
-In collaboration with the Web-Services Librarian, and under the supervision of the Head of Library Digital Initiatives, Systems, and Services, cooperate with other UND and Library departments to maintain digital library services and to build and maintain our rapidly growing digital library collections.
-Participate in grant-writing as needed to support expansion of digital library collections and other digitalization initiatives as well as any additional equipment and staffing to support these initiatives.
-Manage existing digital collections, currently in ContentDM,and in collaboration with colleagues, determine whether this system remains the best solution for the Library, or whether other solutions are preferable and viable.
-Develop and promote tutorials and LibGuides and provide training on digital resources, initiatives, projects, and tools as needed to library colleagues, faculty, staff, students, interested community partners and other stakeholders.
Participate in professional activities, other grant writing activities, and
special projects.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
-Graduate library degree from an American Library Association accredited program.
-1 year experience in an academic, research, public, or special library experience.
-Successful completion of a criminal history background check.
-Provide 3 references.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Strong technological skills, including programming, experience with the development of tutorials, webinars, and other online applications.
-Experience with creation, management, and usage of digital collections, institutional repositories, and other digital initiatives.
-Knowledge of research data management and digital humanities an asset.
-Relevant academic or research library experience.
-Experience with technology projects such as institutional repositories, digital collection creation and management and support and creation of tutorials.
-Experience in instruction in the use of digital resources and tools.
-Grant-writing experience an asset.
