Senior Systems Librarian / Technical Lead
Yale University Library

Yale University offers exciting opportunities for achievement and growth in

**Position Focus:** Reporting to the Director of Enterprise Systems and Services in Library IT, the Senior Systems Librarian/Technical Lead oversees, monitors, and administers both the functional and technical components of library-based production services. Responsibility would extend to systems related to collections management, fulfillment, discovery and access, as well as digital repository and preservation. The Senior Systems Librarian/Technical Lead is expected to maintain a broad and detailed mastery of these services as well as the internal operations of the units served. The incumbent actively works with stakeholders across the Library to assess, further develop, and enhance services, as well as explore opportunities to increase departmental efficiency and broader adoption. This position works closely and collaboratively with a wide range of staff in Library IT, stakeholders across the Library, Yale ITS, as well as with external partners and vendors.  
  
_Depending on education and experience, the final candidate will be hired as a
Senior Systems Librarian or as a Senior Systems Technical Lead._

  
**Required Education, Skills and Experience:**  
• Master's degree from an ALA‐accredited library school. In selected
instances, a Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field and four years of
related technical experience or an equivalent combination of education and
experience.

• Demonstrated experience managing library based systems and services.

• A minimum of four years of intensive experience with automated library
systems.

• Demonstrated experience working collaboratively and independently with
various groups within a complex organization and rapidly changing team
environment.

• Solid understanding of library IT operations across two or more of the
following departments: Access Services, Acquisitions, Administration,
Cataloging, Collection Development, Electronic Resources, IT, Off-site
Collection Services, Preservation, Reference, Special Collections.

• Demonstrated project management and business systems analysis skills.

• Knowledge of Unicode and other standards for representation of library
information in electronic form such as MARC, MARCXML, BIBFRAME, METS, MODS,
EAD, TEI, etc.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and facilitation skills. Excellent oral
and written communication skills.

**Preferred Education, Skills and Experience:** Experience with ExLibris Voyager is highly desirable. Systems experience with one or more of the following is desirable: collections management, fulfillment, access, or digital repositories. Preferred programming experience; familiarity crafting and executing SQL queries; hands-on experience working with modern server operating systems and/or cloud hosted software/infrastructure providers.
