Discovery Services Librarian

The **Discovery Services Librarian** contributes to the Library's mission of
providing access to scholarly resources and services by managing, developing,
and supporting public-facing discovery and access applications. The Discovery
Services Librarian works closely with Library staff to continually evaluate
and enhance Library discovery and access services. He/she administers,
supports, and develops the Library's primary discovery platform (Primo),
including performing complex record loads and configuring new collections and
data sources. He/she also administers and supports the Library's resource
sharing applications (ILLiad, RapidILL, OCLC Navigator).
The Discovery Services Librarian should have a good understanding of library
services related to resource discovery and access, including discovery tools,
link resolvers, and integrated library systems. He/she should possess a
thorough understanding of web application development and current web
technologies. He/she should also possess broad knowledge of library metadata
standards, and should maintain currency with library trends and best practices
related to resource discovery and access.
**Minimum Qualifications**
* MLS from an ALA accredited school
* Minimum 3 years of experience working with library systems
**Desired Functional and Technical Competencies**
* Experience with library discovery and delivery systems and tools; experience with Ex Libris' Primo and OCLC's ILLiad is highly desirable
* Experience with web application development in a Unix/Linux environment
* Hands-on understanding of web technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML/XSLT
* Understanding of web services such as SOAP, REST and other XML-based APIs
* Working knowledge of one or more structured programming languages (PHP, Ruby, Python, Java, etc.)
* Demonstrated ability to utilize user-centered design methodologies and usability principles
* Understanding of library data formats and standards (MARC, Dublin Core, METS, MODs)
* Understanding of proxy servers and/or authentication and authorization services
* Proven ability to work within a team environment and actively promote collaboration
* Strong interpersonal and service skills
* Ability to set priorities and work independently
* Flexibility and adaptability to a changing environment
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
**Salary: $**60,750 - $75,950
