Access Services & Instruction Librarian
University of Connecticut
Stamford

The University of Connecticut, one of the nation's leading public research
universities, seeks applications for the position of Access Services &
Instruction Librarian.

  
Under the direction of the Stamford Regional Library Director, the Access
Services & Instruction Librarian is responsible for maintaining user services
operations at the Stamford campus library. Working
independently, the incumbent oversees the daily operation of the library's
front desk services including circulation services, reserve services,
interlibrary loan, and information services. The incumbent
works collaboratively with other user service coordinators system-wide to
establish and maintain effective, efficient, and consistent processes and
procedures. The incumbent performs regular instruction and reference duties
such as conducting information literacy classes and instructing patrons in the
use of library resources and discovery tools, and collaborates with campus
faculty and staff to integrate library resources and services into the
curriculum.

Minimum Qualifications for Appointment as University Librarian I (UCP 5):

  
  
Graduate degree in Library and Information Science from an American Library
Association accredited program.

  
Work experience in an academic library setting, delivering a broad range of
services to a diverse user population.

  
Demonstrated working knowledge of library technology, software, and integrated
library systems.

  
Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.

  
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with a
demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.

  
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to think
strategically and embrace change.

  
Demonstrated commitment to quality customer service and supporting diversity.

  
Willingness and ability to travel and work a flexible schedule.

  
  
Additional Minimum Qualifications for Appointment as University Librarian II
(UCP 7):

  
  
Minimum of three years' recent experience in an academic library setting,
delivering a broad range of services to a diverse user population.

  
Demonstrated experience managing a budget for a department, project, team, or
committee.

  
Recent involvement in professional development activities at the local or
regional level.

  
  
Preferred Qualifications for all Appointments:

  
  
Experience supervising, scheduling, and evaluating student or professional
staff.

  
Experience with integrated library management systems, for example, Alma.

  
Experience with discovery and delivery interfaces, for example, Primo.

  
Experience teaching, training, or presenting to groups, for example,
information literacy classes.

  
Experience with web-based instructional technologies, such as libguides
software, screencasting software, and/or course management systems.

  
Demonstrated knowledge of instructional and research methodology trends in
academic libraries and higher education.

  
Demonstrated working knowledge, and/or educational background in the
disciplines of social sciences or business.

  
Demonstrated commitment to professional development.

  
  
This is a full time position with an anticipated start date of October 14,
