Division Information:
The State Library of North Carolina is the principal library of state
government, with a mission to build the capacity of all libraries in North
Carolina and to provide access to specialized collections for its
residents. The State Library is comprised of three major programs: The
Government and Heritage Library (GHL), the Library for the Blind and
Physically Handicapped, and Library Development.
The GHL provides services and information related to North Carolina
government, history, demographics, statistics, and cultural heritage,
including genealogy. It is the permanent repository for state agency
publications and collects, preserves, and provides public access to current
and historical state publications in print and digital formats. The GHL
consists of two units, Content and Information Delivery (reference, access,
education and outreach, and digital information management services), and
Content Management and Access (cataloging, collection development, State
Publications Clearinghouse, and acquisitions).
Description of Work:
The Government & Heritage Library (GHL) seeks an enthusiastic, innovative,
and detail-oriented Systems Integration Librarian. This position will:
Serve as the technical lead and manage the library's content and digital
asset management systems, digital preservation tools, and digital resource
databases, including the NC Digital Collections and NCpedia.
Manage and develop custom library tools and sites, including landing pages
for digital collections from the State Library, and an in-house reference
question and usage tracker.
Coordinate system upgrades, troubleshoot functional and performance issues,
and provide assistance and support to staff, partners, and users concerning
the library's digital library systems.
Explore, adapt, develop, troubleshoot, and implement tools in support of
the Library's digital collections and preservation initiatives.
Ensure the sharing of Open Archival Initiative feeds with the North
Carolina Digital Public Library of America Hub, use OCLC's Catcher to
implement bulk changes to metadata in the NC Digital Collections, and more.
Act as a technical liaison between vendors (OCLC, Internet Archive,
Duracloud), project partners (State Archives, NC LIVE), and the Library,
and serve on functional and cross-functional Library teams.
Manage web statistics and related data analysis tools. Analyze usage and
recommends changes to digital sites and services to better meet user needs
based on usage trends.
Provide in-person and virtual reference and customer assistance, which
includes occasional Saturday work, and occasional evening work for special
events, presentations, or conferences. Occasional travel is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with web site management
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with scripting languages such as
HTML, CSS, PHP, Javascript
Experience with digital asset management systems such as CONTENTdm, or
content management systems such as Drupal or Wordpress
Experience troubleshooting issues with online library resources or tools
Management Preferences:
Experience as a professional librarian in the area of web services or
digital library systems and technology support
Experience with usability, accessibility, digital preservation, or linked
data
Proven ability to communicate effectively in-person and in writing
Ability to work independently & as part of a collaborative team
Ability perform & coordinate multiple, concurrent work assignments.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Master's degree in library and information science or a related discipline

Equivalent combination of training and experience
Degree must be received from appropriately accredited (ALA) institutions or
regionally accredited programs in North Carolina. . . .
