Position Focus: Reporting to the Digital Preservation Manager, the Software Preservation Program Manager is responsible for growing and overseeing the implementation of software preservation and emulation related infrastructure and services within the University. A core focus of the Program Manager's work will be contributing to the development of one or more grant applications for growing software preservation and emulation infrastructure and services within the university. The Program Manager will also contribute significantly to the management of the Software Preservation Network (SPN) including exploring and/or planning for the potential transition of SPN from decentralized hosting to institutional hosting at Yale. A secondary responsibility of the role will be to oversee the implementation of the Emulation as a Service (EaaS) Technology for use in providing access to general collections materials within the Library System. The Program Manager will also undertake communications and outreach activities related to software preservation, emulation and the Software Preservation Network both within the Library and the University and within the wider national and international stakeholder communities. Additionally, the Program Manager will become proficient with Yale's project management tools, services and methodologies.

Required Education, Skills and Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in a related field. Four years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Demonstrated ability with digital preservation. Background/knowledge related to software preservation.
* Strong oral and written communication skills.
* Demonstrated ability to work with distributed groups of stakeholders.
* Demonstrated ability presenting to large and small audiences.
* Demonstrated project management skills.

The Preservation Department
Yale University Library's Preservation Department, started in 1971, is one of the oldest in the country. It has strong administrative support and has played a major role in the development of the preservation field. The Department has system-wide responsibilities and consists of units covering conservation of special and circulating collections as well as exhibition preparation; reformatting of special collections materials and circulating materials; mass deacidification; and staff and user-education and consultation on wide variety of preservation concerns.
Digital Preservation is part of the work of the Preservation Department, which is responsible for supporting the Library's mission by ensuring continued access to collections through proactive stewardship, specialized expertise, and collaboration with partners at Yale and other institutions.
