Hello everyone,
We have been streaming .mp3 audio files on Digital Commons (bepress) from our own streaming server using streaming software from Wowza since last year. In the past, we have had no problem streaming audio and video files, but we are now experiencing issues with .mp3 audio files only.
The only way we can get our audio files to work consistently across desktop browsers is to revert to the flash protocol (rtmp). When we try to use an HTML5-compatible url (using the http protocol and a playlist.m3u8 extension at the end) the files have intermittent and idiosyncratic issues.
In an attempt to fix these issues, we upgraded to the most recent version of Wowza (4.7.0) last week. Yesterday we were able to resolve some of these issues by enabling a previously disabled property on Wowza.
Has anyone else experienced issues streaming video or audio files on Digital Commons or in another platform using Wowza and JWPlayer? If so, I'd love to hear some details as we try to troubleshoot. We do not want to use the flash urls as the main streaming url in light of the impending death of flash.
We still believe that many, if not all, of the issues might be resolved if bepress upgrades to JWPlayer 7.12.2, which is the most recent stable version of the player. Digital Commons is currently using JWPlayer 7.8.4., which is several upgrades out of date.
I appreciate any help you can give me.
Regards,
Josh Hogan
