The rise of carpentry workshops in academic libraries comes out of scientists long standing need to effectively adopt and apply computing skills to their research practices. Assistant Professor Cam Macdonell will orient us to the rise of carpentry education, how librarians can get involved, and carpentry communities' future directions. Data Management Specialist Clara Llebot Lorente will discuss how she applies carpentry in her credit graduate course, during professional consultations, and in projects with university partners.

About Cam Macdonell
Cam Macdonell is an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science at MacEwan University in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. His involvement with Software Carpentry began in 2009 as an assistant. In 2013 he completed instructor training and since then he has been an instructor for 9 bootcamps, 6 for Software Carpentry and 3 for Data Carpentry.
About Clara Llebot Lorente
Data Management Specialist at Oregon State University Libraries, Clara Llebot Lorente, has been an instructor for Library Carpentry since 2016. She has participated in 2 library carpentry and 1 Data Carpentry workshops and applies carpentries curriculum to her research data services work. Clara is recently certified as a lesson maintainer and she will be participating in the Spanish software carpentry lessons maintenance.
