The United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit invites applications for the position of Applications Developer. The Applications Developer works as part of circuit-wide and national teams to develop and maintain appropriate discovery solutions and interfaces that enhance the discoverability of library resources for legal researchers. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated experience with Red Hat Linux (preferably CentOS 7), Ruby on Rails, Apache, Apache TomCat, PHP, MySQL, SOLR, PERL, Web Services, API, and related.
Demonstrated experience developing open-source discovery layers such as VuFind, Blacklight or similar.
Experience with related underlying discovery programs, preferably DSpace, Fedora/Hyku, Spotlight or similar.
Strong collaboration skills, preferably with experience in a consortial environment.
Familiarity with Integrated Library Systems, preferably SirsiDynix.
Knowledge of resource description and electronic resource industry standards, best practices, and protocols such as MARC21, DublinCore, RDA and BIBFRAME.
Knowledge of library protocols such as OpenURL, OAI-PMH and Z39.50.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience developing user interfaces for libraries or related institutions.
Master's degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA-accredited program.
Familiarity with and interest in current issues and trends in access and discovery.
Knowledge of tools and techniques used in creating, extracting and applying metadata.
Experience in traditional library technical services such as acquisitions or cataloging.
