Montana State University is proud to host A National Forum on Web Privacy and Web Analytics, a two-and-a-half day event funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services that will convene approximately 40 librarians, technologists, and privacy researchers with the goal of producing a national roadmap for enhancing web privacy in the age of third-party tracking. This forum project ultimately seeks to develop actionable, privacy-focused strategies for implementing analytics in libraries. Please read more about this project on our website: https://www.lib.montana.edu/privacy-forum.
The forum event will take place on the campus of Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana from September 12-14, 2018. Our grant funds will cover participant travel costs, meals during the event, and lodging. This project will be successful with participation from those working and thinking in and around the topics of privacy, analytics, and library ethics. If you are actively working in the areas of privacy and analytics, or you have ideas for the future of analytics privacy in libraries, we want to hear from you.
To apply, please respond to few brief questions about participation in this event: https://montana.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9TFretHM49DVnEx
The call for participation will be open from June 29-July 15. Our project team will then review the nominations and respond before the end of July.
We are working to create a culture of diversity, inclusivity, and accessibility throughout the duration of the project and especially during the forum event in September. We strongly encourage applications from those who identify with traditionally underrepresented or marginalized populations.
For questions or feedback, please contact Project Director Scott Young, User Experience & Assessment Librarian at Montana State University: https://www.lib.montana.edu/people/99
We look forward to reading your application!
