The Hoover Institution at Stanford University is seeking a full-time Digital Production Manager.

About Stanford University's Hoover Institution: The Hoover Institution on War, Revolution, and Peace is a public policy research center devoted to the advanced study of economics, politics, history, and political economy—both domestic and foreign—as well as international affairs. 

Founded in 1919 by Herbert Hoover before he became the thirty-first president of the United States, the Institution began as a repository of historical material gathered at the end of World War I. The library and archives have grown to be among the largest private repositories of documents on twentieth-century political and economic history. Over time the Institution expanded its mission from collecting archival material to conducting advanced research on contemporary history and economics and applying this scholarship to current public policy challenge.

With its eminent scholars and world-renowned library and archives, the Hoover Institution seeks to improve the human condition by advancing ideas that promote economic opportunity and prosperity, while securing and safeguarding peace for America and all humanity. 

JOB PURPOSE:
Serves as the manager for all projects and services offered by the Hoover Institution Library &amp; Archives digitization programs. The position will manage, implement, and maintain a sustainable digital production program for Hoover's cultural heritage material in all formats (mixed archival materials, manuscripts, photographs, born digital, newspapers, books, posters, audio, film, microfilm, fine art, objects, and others) to support the use of collection for research, teaching, and outreach to a broad public taking full advantage of the latest digital technologies for enhanced access and long-term content preservation. 

Under the guidance of senior management, develop, deliver and evaluate a portfolio of programs or products. Responsible for delivering multiple products/programs within scope, on time, and within budget.

CORE DUTIES*:

Recommend and execute product/ program plan strategy, including portfolio development and marketing, to meet business objectives.
Define and conduct analysis and make recommendations regarding the direction of the product/program portfolio.
Maintain a working knowledge of marketing plans as related to portfolio.
Assess prospective audience, planning and executing a conversion strategy to meet product/program goals.
Deliver an experience that leads to high customer satisfaction and advocacy for the program.
Implement improvements based on analysis which improve processes, programs and business across the department.
Build partnerships and engage groups that participate in program or product delivery.
Manage vendor relationships.
Will supervise others.
The ability to work effectively with decision-makers across many levels of the organization.
Experience developing new business opportunities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
 

Education &amp; Experience:
 

Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience. 


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Demonstrated project/program management skills, including the ability to influence without authority and the ability to manage multiple projects/programs simultaneously.
The ability to work effectively with decision-makers across many levels of the organization.
Experience developing new business opportunities.
Demonstrated experience with various marketing elements (e.g. pricing, audience, channels, communication).
Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
 

Relevant experience should include technical work in a library, archives, museum, or other cultural heritage institution.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to work effectively with decision-makers across many levels of the organization, across multiple, distributed, functional groups. 
Familiarity with the range of digital conversion technologies, especially digital imaging and/or audiovisual content reformatting technologies, processes, and professional standards. 
Experience operating a digitization lab, setting up workflows, and conducting quality assurance analysis.
Experience assessing cultural heritage materials for digitization and developing professional project plans and production cost estimates.
Experience working with vendors and managing RFI/RFP processes.

None

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

Constantly sit, perform desk-based computer tasks. 
Frequently twist/bend/stoop/squat, grasps lightly/fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, and sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds. 
Occasionally stand/walk, reach/work above shoulders, writing by hand, kneel/crawl, and climb (ladders, scaffolds, or other). 
Occasionally use a telephone, operate hand controls, kneel, crawl, climb ladders, reach/work above shoulder, grasp forcefully. 
Must be able to push and maneuver a fully-loaded cart weighing up to 650 pounds

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Occasional work on evenings and weekends.
