The Digital Research team includes specialists in software engineering, project management, and the curation of digital special collections, and together are responsible for the development of a varied portfolio of projects and initiatives, with a particular focus on making Special Collections content (such as manuscripts and archives) available online. The portfolio currently includes Digital Bodleian, our flagship platform for delivering digitized image collections, and eight TEI manuscript catalogues, covering collections including Western medieval, Armenian, Georgian, and Tibetan manuscripts.
You will scope, design, and deliver assigned application and development tasks, undertake research and analysis into technical solutions and methodologies in order to deliver the most effective solution to user needs and develop code that is well structured and can readily be re-used across multiple projects. You will have an undergraduate degree in an IT or Digital Humanities field, or equivalent professional experience, having significant experience in application development using object-oriented programming languages, proven documentation skills, and an understanding of requirements analysis and software solution design. An interest in rare and archival materials and/or familiarity with the International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF) is particularly desirable.
These are full-time, fixed-term posts for 3 years.
You will be required to upload your CV and a supporting statement as part of your online application. Your supporting statement should list each of the essential and desirable selection criteria, as listed in the job description, and explain how you meet each one.
