This array of college libraries, special collections, and specialized libraries and information centres supports the teaching and research requirements of more than 700 undergraduate degree programs and over 280 graduate programs, including over 60 professional programs, and. In addition to more than 15 million print and electronic volumes, the library system currently provides access to a vast array of electronic resources in various forms and over 31,000 linear metres of archival material. More than 150,000 new items are acquired each year.The Libraries’ data centre houses more than 500 physical and virtual servers and more than a petabyte of data.

About the University of Toronto Scarborough Library

The University of Toronto Scarborough, also known as U of T Scarborough or UTSC, is one of the three main campuses of the University of Toronto. UTSC is an anchor institution in the eastern GTA and combines the intimacy of a close-knit campus, the breadth of the liberal arts and the depth and rigor of one of the world’s best research universities. UTSC is located next to popular natural landmarks in Toronto’s greenest area, and is in one of Toronto’s most diverse and multicultural neighbourhoods. The UTSC Library aligns itself with campus partners to serve this quickly growing campus within the larger UTL system.

The Opportunity

The UTSC Library’s Digital Scholarship Unit (DSU) invites applications for an enthusiastic, skilled candidate to fill the position of Digital Projects &amp; Technologies Librarian. Reporting to the Coordinator, Digital Scholarship Unit, the successful candidate will contribute in diverse, collaborative teams to the design, development and delivery of innovative and forward-thinking DSU service offerings.

Required Qualifications

A degree from an accredited Master’s level program in library and information studies
Knowledge of diverse metadata/cataloging/archival descriptive standards and controlled vocabularies, metadata harvesting and crosswalks, as well as ontologies.
Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies independently
Demonstrated, strong analytical and organizational skills
Knowledge of standard web technologies (XML/JavaScript/JSON)
Demonstrated capacity for working in a diverse, fast-paced, results-oriented, collaborative, and dynamic environment
Strong written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with software developers and/or systems administrators
Experience with/Demonstrated interest in Open Source software and Open Access communities
Experience with/demonstrated interest in DevOps practices &amp; tools
Familiarity with application development languages and tools
Experience with content/digital asset management systems and repositories (Islandora/Drupal/Fedora preferred)
Demonstrated success in a key role in digital scholarship projects
Relevant experience as an academic librarian

 

Salary and Terms of Appointment Salary and appointment level are based on experience and qualifications. This is a permanent status stream position.
