What You'd Do
Work downtown at the Central Library to maintain and support the network architecture and security of the Library's IT infrastructure. Ensure the stable operation of the in-house LAN/WAN network, including planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting and optimizing all network hardware, software and communication links. Analyze and troubleshoot network infrastructure and availability. Provide support for network users within designated guidelines, including Availability Management, Capacity Management and Change Management. Create documentation and contribute to the creation of technology policies and procedures. Maintain compliance to baseline configurations, DPL policies and applicable IT security standards. Assist in the evaluation, selection and implementation of new technology. Configure and deploy VOIP phones, switches, printers, wireless routers, video security and video conferencing systems. Manage VPN with Cisco VPN client and TCP/IP networking in an enterprise environment. Contribute to a collaborative team environment with a focus on excellent customer service, efficiency, innovation and accountability.
You Have
Knowledge of technology trends, best practices and industry standards. Knowledge of Security Standards such as ISO 27000, PCI, or HIPAA. Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws. Skill in creative problem solving, adaptive thinking and making connections. Skill in networking, connectivity (wired and wireless) at an expert level. Ability to work closely with other IT members to contribute to new and ongoing IT projects and implementation of new technologies. Ability to self-motivate and take on challenging initiatives. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers. Ability to work collaboratively with the IT Operations, Service Desk and Digital User Experience teams. Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving and energetic environment. Ability to work in a 24x7 on-call rotation as needed. Ability to pass a background check after the offer to hire has been made.
A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or other related technical degree.
Three to five years of professional Information Technology experience with installing, maintaining and/or modifying network operating systems with both software and hardware. Three to five years technical experience in the design, implementation and support of data networks. Experience with Cisco firewalls, wireless controllers and Edge/Core switches. Experience with IT standards and best practices such as COBIT. Experience in documenting procedures and writing reference guides.
At least one Cisco certification SNAF or CCNP or CCNA or higher with appropriate experience. Certification and experience with ITIL or other ITSM methodologies.Certification in Network+, Security+ or CISSP.
ShoreTel experience and certification (preferred, not required).
Windows or Unix Technology certification (preferred, not required).

We are beginning implementation of a new strategic plan which requires both a solid technology foundation and the capacity to innovate using technology. The IT team is currently in the middle of a major network redesign project and is incorporating the ITIL Framework. Other upcoming projects include developing and implementing a disaster recovery plan.
Although the full salary range for this position is provided, offers depend on qualifications and typically do not exceed the midpoint. The City and County of Denver benefit package will be offered.
Occasional evening and weekend work will be required for periodic off-hours maintenance.
