The University of Mississippi Libraries seeks an innovative user-focused professional to join the STEM team. This position will serve as the library subject specialist for chemical and physical science information and data. The successful candidate will play a key role in expanding the breadth and depth of research support offered to the STEM disciplines by engaging with researchers on their work, data, and information needs and articulating the role the Library can play. This is a full-time, tenure-track, 12-month faculty position reporting to the Lead STEM Librarian. Job Duties:
· Deliver targeted library services to advance research, teaching and learning to the assigned departments.
· Provide expert consultation to support all aspects of the research lifecycle and the utilization of research workflow tools.
· Support chemical information discovery in both textual and graphical formats.
· Facilitate the use of science research tools such as citation management software, electronic lab notebooks, and data repository options to address the specialized needs of chemical and physical science information researchers
· Collaborate with other STEM librarians to develop, oversee, and assess library resources for the sciences.
· Assist in the discovery of information resources through the creation of subject guides and other user services.
· Provides data support services for faculty, staff, and students from assigned subject areas as well as for other campus data support service initiatives as assigned.
· Stay abreast of developments in, science publishing, scientometrics and open science
· Demonstrates commitment to scholarship, service, and professional development to meet the requirements expected of academic library faculty for tenure and promotion.
Qualifications:
· Graduate degree in library science or other related discipline.
· Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team within a culturally diverse user community of faculty, students, administrators and the general public
· Strong subject background in chemistry, physics, mathematics, statistics, computer science, or engineering.
· Experience and/or coursework with emerging technology, tools, and trends in scholarship in the sciences.
· Familiarity with scholarly communications initiatives and demonstrated knowledge of scientific research and publication trends
· Experience managing, analyzing or working with data.
Salary and Benefits
Starting salary is $48,000. Benefits include employer-paid portions of medical, dental, vision, and tuition waiver programs for employees and dependents.
