Key Responsibilities of this position include:
Collaborating with other units on campus to coordinate data services, advance research data
management, and develop an Institutional Strategy for Research Data Management;
Providing training to researchers on DMP Assistant and Dataverse;
Together with Office of Research Services, serving as contact for external data organizations and
data repositories; and
Conducting and applying research and best practices in the areas of academic library data services,
statistical data analysis, GIS, data visualization, research data management, and digital scholarship.
Additional Responsibilities Include:
Actively participating in the provision of reference services (face-to-face and virtual), both locally and
provincially via AskAway;
Fulfilling a liaison librarian role in designated disciplines through the support of teaching, research,
collection development, graduate library research, and the provision of information literacy sessions;
Providing in-person and online training sessions;
Supporting liaison librarians and library staff with data reference and research consultations in your
assigned subject areas;
Conducting advanced reference and research consultations with students and faculty;
Developing and managing collections in assigned subject areas;
Engaging in scholarship, research, creative or equivalent professional activities;
Working collaboratively with Library colleagues on committees and working groups that advance all
aspects of library planning, policy formulation and service delivery;
Advancing the values and goals outlined in the Library's and University's strategic plans; and
Serving on Library and university-wide committees.
Required Qualifications
A graduate degree from an ALA-accredited program in librarian and information science or
equivalent accreditation;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English;
Experience in, or demonstrated potential for, supporting researchers with data services, including
data discovery, statistical and geospatial data analysis and visualization, and research data
management;
Understanding of the regional and national research data management landscape in Canada,
including relevant policies, repositories, and tools;
Strong organizational and time management skills;
Experience in, or knowledge of, providing information literacy instruction and training; and
Commitment to scholarship, professional development, and service.
Additional consideration will be given to those who have:
Experience with scripting languages and relational databases;
Research experience or additional advanced degree; and
Project management skills.
