LOUIS: The Louisiana Library Network is located within the Board of Regents. LOUIS is a consortium of 47 public and private college and university libraries in the state of Louisiana. This partnership was formed in 1992 by the library deans and directors at these institutions, in order to create a cost-effective collaboration among the institutions for the procurement of library technology and resources. The individual appointed to this position will report to the Executive Director and Associate Commissioner for LOUIS: The Louisiana Library Network.
Responsibilities Include:
Consult on software and projects related to the library services platform; use and learn necessary programming languages
Direct the customization and branding of the discovery system and related web integrations, including support of member libraries in front-end development of library technology assets
Lead and participate in projects to improve the consortium’s web presence
Establish and promote effective and current usability, accessibility, and technical standards for adoption across the consortium’s web presence and systems
Identify, test, implement, and support data visualization and other technology tools to inform evidence-based decision-making and to communicate assessment results
Assist LOUIS member libraries in ensuring timely access to and discovery of content across multiple systems, including library discovery systems, library management systems, vendor interfaces, and library websites
Participate actively in the ongoing planning and delivery of access points for the discovery of library resources by faculty, students, and researchers
Participate in statewide and national meetings, user groups, task forces and committees
Support the integration, functionality, and accessibility of electronic resources information content in all LOUIS-supported technologies
Minimum Qualifications:
Baccalaureate degree with a minimum of three years library or information services experience
Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, Javascript, command line
Demonstrated experience diagnosing and resolving technical issues in a timely manner
Valid Louisiana driver’s license and ability to travel
Fluency in English, written and verbal
Preferred Qualifications:
ALA-accredited master's degree with a minimum of five years professional level experience in an academic library or library consortium setting
Knowledge of standards and formats, such as MARC
Experience supporting integrated library systems (SirsiDynix Symphony ILS preferred) and discovery systems (SirsiDynix Enterprise and EBSCO Discovery Service preferred)
Familiarity and experience with programming languages (Javascript, Perl preferred)
Familiarity and experience working with web development software and content management systems (LibGuides preferred)
Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS)
Familiarity with help desk software
