The UConn Library seeks two proactive librarians who are passionate about positively impacting the holistic student experience. The Student Success Librarians will work collaboratively with Library colleagues, students, and campus partners to actively support student academic success and lifelong learning at UConn. The successful candidates will draw on strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to build and maintain successful working partnerships across the UConn Library and larger University community.
Reporting to the Head of Reference & Curriculum Services, both Student Success Librarians will develop, deliver, and assess engaging, scalable, and sustainable programming and services. One position will have a special focus on advancing Open Educational Resources (OER) efforts and the other on advancing the Library’s information literacy programming.
Along with all UConn Library personnel, the successful candidates will advance diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion efforts at the Library, making positive contributions to a culture of inclusion and respect in all interactions within the Library and across the University. Responsibilities
Engages in proactive outreach and networking to build relationships with campus stakeholders to connect existing Library collections, services, and spaces to efforts in support of student success.
Develops innovative Library programming and services in consultation and collaboration with campus stakeholders, such as the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning and the Institute for Student Success.
Works collaboratively with the Information Literacy Librarian and the Instructional Design Specialist to advance UConn Library information literacy efforts.
Advances the awareness and adoption of OER at UConn Library and UConn.
Develops and delivers in-person and online instruction, reference and research services, workshops, and consultations as required by the position.
Creates, modifies, and/or maintains tools and programs to support learning and research according to established best practices.
Assesses the efficacy of programming in collaboration with the Coordinator of Library Research and Assessment and other colleagues through collection and provision of relevant data and information on student success initiatives.
Participates in professional activities at a statewide, regional, and/or national level.
May serve as a student employee supervisor.
May serve as a liaison to one or more disciplinary areas.

Minimum Qualifications
A graduate degree in Library and Information Science from a program accredited by the American Library Association or an international equivalent.
Demonstrated understanding of the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion and ability to work collaboratively with individuals of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
Demonstrated knowledge of the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education.
A strong commitment to customer service and a demonstrated ability to provide solid public service and outreach.
Demonstrated ability to deliver reliable, effective, and appropriate verbal and written communications that follow current professional standards across various and diverse audiences.
Experience or interest in teaching library principles through student-focused learning experiences.
Willingness to work a flexible schedule; limited evenings and weekends required.
Demonstrated ability to plan and organize work both independently and collaboratively.
Additional Minimum Qualifications for Appointment as Librarian 2
Minimum of three years related professional experience.
Demonstrated recurrent active engagement in professional activities at a statewide, regional, and/or national level.
Preferred Qualifications for Both Appointments
Work experience in a library setting.
Demonstrated experience with instructing individuals or groups online and/or in person.
Demonstrated experience with planning or presenting programs or events.
Demonstrated experience providing research assistance.
Demonstrated experience with creating online research guides, instructional videos, tutorials, and/or other digital learning objects and instructional support materials.
Demonstrated experience, either on the job or through graduate level coursework, with library assessment practices and methodologies.
Knowledge of issues in open education or equitable access to education and information.
Demonstrated success in fostering partnerships with various stakeholders that focus on student success.
