The Department of Museums, Archives & Rare Books is accepting applications for Digital Archivist. Responsibilities include:
Oversee the preservation and usability of all digital assets selected for preservation in the KSU Archives Digital Repository, a hosted instance of DSpace, including working closely with University Information Technology Services and vendor provided services to minimize interruptions in service and facilitate a seamless user experience.
Serve as the point of contact for repository migrations.
Develop and implement policies, procedures, and workflows for the selection, ingest and delivery of digital archive materials, and for managing the digital storage environment, file integrity, access and control, metadata, and content of digital collections.
Develop and implement file characterization and information tools and scrips to facilitate preservation workflows.
Apply knowledge of metadata schema, controlled vocabularies, and best practices.
Develop digital preservation plans for specific collections and benchmarking for the digital preservation program.
Collaborate with the Records and Information Management unit to serve as a resource to the University for best practices for maintaining born-digital records outside of the Archives digital repository for short- and long-term retention.
Work collaboratively with University departments to facilitate the acquisition, transfer, preservation, description, and access to select born-digital University records of enduring value.
Develop and implement access strategies for accessioned and non-accessioned digital materials in the dark archives to best serve the needs of stakeholders.
Assist with reference requests for digital materials.
Serve as a resource for rights and access best practices for digital materials.
