Position Summary: The Woodson Research Center at Fondren Library, Rice University, seeks a service-oriented, well-organized, technically savvy, and self-motivated Digital Archivist. This position will lead efforts to preserve, describe, and provide access to digital materials (legacy digital content, digitized content from analog sources, social media content, and born digital materials). The Digital Archivist will contribute to ongoing development and implementation of policies and program elements, such as possible implementation of Archivematica software. This position serves as liaison to Fondren Library departments of Digital Scholarship Services and IT. The Woodson Research Center (WRC) includes 5 full-time archivists working on a variety of collaborative projects, including research support for Rice University’s Task Force on Slavery, Segregation, and Racial Injustice, as well as several large audio / video digitization projects. The WRC has an established public facing and dark digital preservation program, and continually seeks to improve it. This position will report to the Head of Special Collections / WRC and will collaborate closely with professional archivist staff.

Salary and benefits: Starting salary $62,000 - $69,350; no state or local income tax; 21 benefit days; 8 study days; a range of retirement options including TIAA; health and life insurance; and tuition waiver.
Education required: MLS/MLIS or Master of Science in Information with a specialization in Archives & Records Management, from an ALA-accredited graduate school or equivalent degree
Experience required : 2 years experience with digital archival collections or other digital library-related work
