Clemson Libraries seeks an innovative, collaborative, and service-oriented Systems Librarian with exemplary communications skills and a team-building mindset to join our growing organization. The Systems Librarian serves a leadership role in the oversight, management, and optimization of Clemson’s library services platform: Ex Libris’ Alma, Primo VE, and Leganto. The Systems Librarian supports remote authentication, currently EZProxy, and integrates other systems--such as ILLiad, GOBI, and OCLC--with the library services platform to deliver streamlined services. The Systems Librarian contributes to other technology projects within the IT Infrastructure department to improve critical library services and coordinates with faculty and staff across the libraries and university to enhance resource discovery, establish or improve workflows, and deliver training and documentation.
Clemson Libraries migrated to Alma/Primo VE in June 2020 and is part of a Network Zone along with 53 other institutions in the Partnership Among South Carolina Academic Libraries (PASCAL) consortium. The Systems Librarian actively participates in the shared maintenance and governance of the Network Zone and liaises with PASCAL and Ex Libris systems support staff to troubleshoot issues and properly configure Clemson’s Institution Zone according to consortia best practices and recommendations.
Clemson Libraries faculty are members of the academic community, with responsibilities in the areas of librarianship, scholarship, and service. This is a 12-month tenure-track faculty position and works under the direction of the Head of IT Infrastructure, a department within the newly created division of Organizational Performance and Inclusion. This individual will have a range of responsibilities including configuring, developing, and sustaining the library services platform, discovery systems, and other systems used to manage library processes. They will also chair the Discovery Cross-Functional Team and supervise systems support staff.
The ideal candidate will have an ALA-accredited graduate degree in librarianship or a relevant accredited graduate degree in another scholarly field as deemed appropriate by the Libraries, minimum of 2 years professional experience providing support and management for a library services platform, preferably in an academic setting, and demonstrated skills in leadership, oral and written communication, and creative problem-solving.
