Campbell Library, located in Glassboro, NJ, seeks creative and dynamic candidates for the position of Digital Humanities &amp; Social Sciences (DH&amp;SS) Librarian.  While serving as a liaison to specific departments in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS), this newly established position will also provide critical support to faculty, students, and staff working in digital humanities and social sciences.  Working in partnership with colleagues–including the Digital Scholarship Center Coordinator, the Repository Manager, the Scholarly Communication &amp; Data Curation Librarian, staff in Library Technology Services, and the staff of University Archives and Special Collections–the DH&amp;SS Librarian will assist CHSS faculty in the development, planning, implementation, creation, and support of digital teaching and research projects. In addition, they will provide research support, instruction, and collection development services in their liaison areas. 

The successful candidate will: have demonstrated the ability to work in a complex, changing environment; have a proven capacity to work effectively in teams and build partnerships; and be committed to engaging in scholarly activities and providing service to the University, the community, and the profession.

This full-time tenure-track AFT (American Federation of Teachers) librarian faculty position will report to the Director of Research Engagement and Scholarship at Campbell Library. The successful candidate for this position will be hired at the rank of Librarian II (AFT Range 26) or Librarian III (AFT Range 22), depending on their prior experience. Position Summary:

The Digital Humanities and Social Sciences Librarian will work with students, faculty, and staff in specific departments in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS), providing information literacy instruction, research consultations, and collection development services to their assigned departments.  In addition, they will coordinate Rowan University Libraries’ support for interdisciplinary digital projects in CHSS and the Ric Edelman College of Communication and Creative Arts (RECCCA). 

Candidates should have a working knowledge of instructional technologies, learning management systems, presentation tools, and emerging technologies in digital projects, and will ideally have particular areas of strength in digital scholarship, such as computational approaches to textual analysis, geographical information systems (GIS), or similar areas.  The ideal candidate would also have experience in the creation and documentation of digital production workflows and the ability to work collaboratively with library staff, university faculty and staff–especially campus IT specialists.


 

Requirements

A Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS or MLIS) from a library school accredited by the American Library Association (or ALA-recognized foreign equivalent)
Experience planning, implementing, and managing digital scholarship projects
Experience with one or more DH&amp;SS methodologies (e.g., text encoding (TEI), platforms such as Omeka, data visualization, etc.)
Demonstrated initiative and ability to work in an academic environment, both independently and collaboratively
Demonstrated commitment to anti-racist, inclusive, and ethical practice and pedagogy
Excellent oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills; evidence of ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing organizational priorities and duties
Background in the humanities or social sciences
Ability to fulfill the Tenure &amp; Recontracting criteria for a library faculty member on the tenure track, including the creation of scholarly presentations and publications

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Springshare software, especially LibGuides, LibChat, and LibAnswers
Experience with information literacy instruction and/or instructional design
Advanced degree in the humanities or social sciences
