You will be working in a small development team which keeps the Library's data and collections findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable. Working across a wide range of technologies you will need to have a full stack mind-set and be open to continuous change and learning. We expect you to be comfortable with the command line, testing, code quality tools and version control. Our stack builds on popular frameworks like Ruby on Rails and Laminas, and a variety of data stores like Solr, MySQL and Redis. Our systems include the online Catalogue, Parish Registers, a digital repository framework (Fedora Commons/Samvera) and an Order Management system. We build on, learn from, and contribute to open source whenever possible - so if you have a history of open commits we would love to see your work. Solving interesting problems, you will gain experience in industry technologies and in best practice within the digital library domain. You will work within a departmental team of library technologists and collaborate with librarians, archivists, metadata specialists, software vendors, and open source communities. In return we offer hybrid working of up to three days’ remote based from our historical city centre campus. This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to develop their potential as a full stack developer.
