Hi Code4Lib community,
In keeping with the theme of "we need help making the 2023 conference happen," I am seeking one or two volunteers to fill the Community Support Coordinator role for the upcoming conference. The Coordinators oversee the Community Support Squad (CSS), help support the boundaries established in the Code of Conduct https://github.com/code4lib/code-of-conduct, and handle reports of Code of Conduct violations. The responsibilities involve recruiting, training, and organizing the activities of the CSS during the annual Code4Lib conference. This year we will also have additional support from Concentra for some of the tasks. I will work with the new coordinator(s) on knowledge transfer, including ownership of our detailed documentation and other tools, and will generally make sure you have the support you need to be successful.
The goal is to have two co-coordinators with the positions rolling over in alternating years, so that each year has an experienced coordinator and a new incoming coordinator. In order to establish this, I'd ask that at least one person be willing to commit for a two-year term, from the present to summer(ish) 2024. You can see more detail about the rationale for this in the transparency report from the 2022 conference here: https://github.com/code4lib/code-of-conduct/blob/main/transparency_reports/2022_national_conference_annual_report.md.
Because volunteers for the CSS need to pass a community vetting procedure, we handle the process of filling these roles separately from the other committees on the wiki. Please respond to me (here or privately) if you are interested or have any questions.
Thanks,
Anne Slaughter
