With the generous support of the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Association for Computers and the Humanities (ACH) and the Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media are pleased to be able to offer $2000 bursaries to support attendance for members of the US digital humanities community at DH 2024, which will be held at George Mason University in Arlington, Virginia from August 5-9, 2024.
These flat-rate stipends of $2000 will be awarded to individuals. The conference organizers have reserved a block of rooms at a discount rate for attendees at the Hilton Arlington ($176/night + taxes) and the Holiday Inn Arlington at Ballston ($149/night + taxes). Conference registration fees range from $100 to $425. Combined with travel and per diem costs, the $2000 stipends should help to defray most of the cost for participation for the recipients. Stipends will be disbursed after the conference.
Recipients will be required to attend the conference and participate in a follow-up survey to gather data, measure impact, and help ACH consider if a targeted conference bursary program is useful for future events.
We especially encourage applicants from historically underrepresented US institutions and regions of the country, including the territorial jurisdictions. This includes applicants from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs), Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs), Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs), community colleges, and colleges and universities in rural areas, as well as individual members of Tribal Nations and US veterans.
For questions, please contact ACH past president Roopika Risam at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.
