I feel your pain. Are you seeing anything like what's shown in my
screenshot below? Aside from that, we had an issue just recently in which
it would have been nice to be able to talk to someone at Google about a
business review. No such luck, and that's even with being a GSuite
customer of theirs. I had to explain this to our Board at their last
meeting.
This speaks to a much larger issue as far as I'm concerned: the bullying of
the industry by such behemoths. At their whim, they issue changes and
everyone is expected to comply, or to suffer the consequences of reduced
SEO, undeliverable email, the inability to access a web page due to
security restrictions, or even something as inane as instructions on an
Android phone to "swipe to unlock" because we decided it's best for you at
this time rather than biometrics.
*Can we as IT professionals organize and mobilize sufficiently to form a
non-profit, one with teeth that will advocate for us and stand up to such
behemoths? Unfortunately, it's gotten to the point where the capitalistic
exercise of boycotting them is hardly possible.*
And we've gotten to the point where a company like Google can cause a loss
in productivity for a company simply by allowing incorrect information to
be published, and requiring someone like yourself to devote time in trying
to correct it. And so far, we've come to accept that, albeit grudgingly.
Why? 🤔
I'm stepping down off of my virtual soapbox now.
