Hi coders!
When my library found that our trusty OKI Data label printers were not
compatible with our new laptops, it started a year-long odyssey for me of
buying and returning label and barcode printers, scanners and label stock.
It was a frustrating process of mismatched models, surprising assortments
of ports, incorrect plugs, incompatible scanners, wrong-sized label stocks,
unexpected toner types, and so on; all of which resulted in a lot of
returns and new orders.
In the course of all this confusion, I was disappointed by the lack of best
practice or advice pages on the internet. So,I created a page compiling the
advice I received, via listservs and emails, on purchase and set up label
printers in the current market. I put in the specifications we're using at
San Jose State (part of the California State University consortium) on the
page as advice for others
The *page is here*
<https://calstate.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/URM/pages/3297869839/Label+printers+and+printing+advice>
on
the CSU's Confluence site.
But I know it's not comprehensive. So I threw up *this survey*
<https://forms.gle/ujrxYPb9XLdAmmB86> to solicit advice, corrections,
anecdotes to add, etc. from others on what I wrote - or feel free to
respond to me via email. Please view and share!!!
Thanks as always!
Jill
