Dear all,
Back by popular demand, the PRONOM team will be running their yearly
hackathon, PRONOM Research Week 2024
<https://github.com/digital-preservation/PRONOM_Research/blob/main/PRONOM_Research_Week/Research_Week_2024.md>,
to mark World Digital Preservation Day. This year the hackathon will be the
7th November-15th November.
This is a week-long excuse to delve into the world of file formats
alongside other digital preservation practitioners. Have a file format you
can't identify in your repository? This week could be the time to
investigate with help from others around the globe.
They will be kicking off the week with a PRONOM Open Drop-In session on the
7th dedicated to answering your questions.
PRONOM Research week is not just about file format analysis and if you
aren't sure about looking inside file formats there are many ways to help
out. From suggesting improvements to our documentation, to helping us
create descriptions for many of the file formats in the database that don't
have one.
Please do not hesitate to contact Francesca Mackenzie, (

Best wishes,
Helena
