My talented listmates,

Our library has received new laptops with only have 2 uSB ports.

That beans a problem when patrons need 3-5 ports.

Most often they need to borrow our old portable DVD player powered by a
laptop via a USB port and a USB drive and maybe a headset.

I'm not sure if all this changes for power needs if they bring in their own
external hard drive to power through a laptop USB port?

The question is do we need a powered USB hub with it's own power adapter or
will the usb power through the laptop be enough for all the above devices?

Have you found any specific ones you've liked?

There are parts of our library with no electrical outlets and we don't want
to be schelppng a portal power unit around the library for this.
