Join NASIG Standards and Continuing Education Committees for our March
webinar Communication of Retractions, Removals, and Expressions of Concern
(CREC): Shaping Ethical Research.
*Date*: Thursday, March 13, 2025
*Time*: 2:00pm-3:00pm ET
*Registration*: https://nasig.org/event-6049286
*Description*
Retractions may be rare, but they play a crucial role in ensuring the
integrity of the scholarly record. Communicating retractions, removals, and
expressions of concern effectively is vital for fostering trust and
transparency in research. Librarians, as champions of information literacy
and metadata standards, are key players in advancing ethical research
communication.
This webinar will introduce NISO’s recently published Communication of
Retractions, Removals, and Expressions of Concern (CREC) Recommended
Practice, providing a concise history, an overview of its development, and
practical insights into its implementation. Hear from a panel of
experts—representing libraries, publishers, and standards
organizations—about how CREC establishes best practices for creating clear,
reliable metadata for retractions and related statements.
Join us for an engaging session with ample time for Q&A, and discover how
the library community can both adopt and shape these vital standards for
the benefit of researchers, scholars, and beyond. Already have questions
about CREC? To ensure your questions are answered, submit them via this
form and we will be sure to answer them during the webinar.
