Yup. There's a reason for that. YouTube periodically cracks down on
downloader apps. Some come back eventually and some do not.
I also have [close friends who have] successfully used yt-dlp. However, it
bears pointing out that this is a YT no-no:
You may not "...access, reproduce, download, distribute, transmit,
broadcast, display..." any content except as expressly authorized.

So, proceed at your own risk. For the rule followers among us, pony up for
YouTube Premium, get offline access to videos, and enjoy the lack of
YT-inserted ads. Maybe a few pennies make it to the content creators you're
benefiting from, so there's that.
