Version 1.2.0 of the Metavus <http://metavus.net/> open source digital collections platform is now available. Three additions we believe may be noteworthy in this new release:
ChatPDF (new plugin) - Allows ChatGPT to be asked specific questions about files uploaded to a collection, and the answers to be placed in associated metadata fields. Can be used to jumpstart or speed cataloging, or for other AI-driven explorations. This capability is currently being used to help manage the ATE Central <https://atecentral.net/> resource collection.
PhotoLibrary/ExifTags/IIIFServer (new plugins) - Provides support for assembling a photo collection, including automated extraction of EXIF information into metadata fields, and both displaying that collection and serving it up via an IIIF API. This capability is currently being used for the ATE Impacts photo library <https://ateimpacts.net/photos>.
EduLink (new plugin) - Allows collection materials to be made available within multiple Learning Management Systems via the LTI Deep Linking protocol. This capability is currently being used to make NSF ATE-created educational resources available in LMSes across the country, as part of the STEMLink <https://atecentral.net/stemlink> service.
Metavus 1.2.0 can be downloaded from the Metavus website <https://metavus.net/download/>, and also found on GitHub <https://github.com/internetscout/metavus>. We look forward to any questions you may have or feedback <http://metavus.net/contact> that you may want to share on this new version.
