Workshop Description:
For over two decades, web archiving has been a responsibility for archivists and librarians, contributing to part of their workloads, and yet, this form of archiving has always been on the periphery of library and archives work. This workshop will demonstrate the importance of engaging with web archiving work; and cover the long-term management of a web archiving program to give others the tools to make this work sustainable in their academic and professional environments. The workshop will cover collection development, seed selection, scoping, ethics, quality assurance, accessioning, arrangement and description, and preservation. We will also discuss different tools used for web archiving including: the Internet Archive, Archive-It, and WebRecorder; and how these tools can work in conjunction with each other. The workshop will provide ideas and resources for users to implement and sustain a web archiving program.
Instructor Bio:
Nicole Greenhouse is an archivist who has been involved with web archiving research and initiatives since 2011 as an undergraduate. She graduated with her Masters in Archives and Public History from New York University in 2014. She is currently the Web Archivist at New York University Libraries and manages the web archives for the NYU Special Collections–the Fales Library, University Archives, and the Tamiment Library and Robert F. Wagner Labor Archives. She also taught a web archiving course in the Department of Library and Information Science at IU Indianapolis. She has also been involved in the Society of American Archivists Web Archiving Section and presented at SAA, Archive-It partner meetings, and other conferences in the Northeast.

Descripción del taller:
Durante más de dos décadas, el archivado web ha sido una responsabilidad de archivistas y bibliotecarios, contribuyendo con parte de su carga de trabajo y, sin embargo, esta forma de archivado siempre ha estado en la periferia del trabajo de bibliotecas y archivos. Este taller demostrará la importancia de comprometerse con el trabajo de archivado web y cubrirá la gestión de un programa de archivado web a largo plazo para brindarles a otros las herramientas para que este trabajo sea sostenible en sus entornos académicos y profesionales. El taller cubrirá temas como desarrollo de colecciones, selección de semillas [seeds], alcance, ética, garantía de calidad, acceso, ordenamiento y descripción, y preservación. Semblanza del instructor:
Nicole Greenhouse es una archivista que ha estado involucrada en investigaciones e iniciativas de archivado web desde 2011, cuando era estudiante universitaria. Se graduó con una Maestría en Archivos e Historia Pública de la Universidad de Nueva York -NYU- en 2014. Actualmente es archivista web en las Bibliotecas de la Universidad de Nueva York y administra los archivos web de las colecciones especiales de la NYU: la Biblioteca Fales, los Archivos Universitarios, la Biblioteca Tamiment y los Archivos Laborales Robert F. Wagner. También impartió un curso sobre archivado web en el Departamento de Bibliotecas y Ciencias de la Información de la IU Indianápolis. También ha participado en la Sección de Archivado Web de la Society of American Archivists (Sociedad de Archivistas Americanos) y ha realizado presentaciones en la SAA, en reuniones de socios de Archive-It y otras conferencias en el Noreste.
