My institution has been using ScannX machines for about 7 or 8 years, I personally only use them as an end user but I have a comment from my colleague who maintains them:

Yeah. I like them. The interface is easy for patrons to figure out and at least the flatbed scanners are very durable.

I can confirm it's easy to use, the touch screen is pretty responsive, and it has a good assortment of ways to save the file (e-mail, USB stick)

Does anyone have any experience with ScannX book scanners?

We currently have Bookeye scanners, that are available to the public for walk-up use.  They're... delicate.  We just haven't had good luck with them, and the ScannX were recommended to us.

Does anyone have any other suggestions, that are geared to more heavy-duty use for the public?
