Dear friends, I hope that this email finds you and your families well. I call your attention here to the DLF Forum, which will go ahead as planned on 16-18 November (a draft preliminary program is available from http://www.diglib.org/forums/fall2001/fall2001.htm). I would be grateful if you could bring the following information to the attention of colleagues who might like to attend. The decision to proceed has not been taken lightly. Rather, in light of our national tragedy, it seems not only appropriate but important that the DLF continue to search for the means of responsibly and economically managing and supporting access to cultural and scholarly information. Given the forum's key role in this work, we feel that it should proceed. The registration deadline for the forum is October 29, 2001. Participants may register by sending their name, title, and institutional affiliation to [log in to unmask] indicating what dates they plan to attend. A block of rooms has been set aside at the Pittsburgh Marriott City Center. Rooms can be booked at the DLF Forum rate of $99 per night depending on availability and provided that reservations are made with the Marriott before November 2, 2001. Be sure the DLF Forum is mentioned when making reservations. If you or your colleagues have any questions about the forum, please don't hesitate to contact me or Cassie Savage. With very kind regards, Dan Daniel Greenstein Director, Digital Library Federation 1755 Massachusetts Ave, NW #500 Washington DC 20036 (202) 939-4762
