1) Program Associate, DLF

Description: The Digital Library Federation seeks a lively, committed
individual to fill this critical component of our small central staff.
The Program Associate performs both a support and a catalytic role,
sharing several tasks with the Executive Director and taking
responsibility for others.  On-job training is available and expected.  

Position Duties

DLF Initiatives 

*       Responsibility, with the Executive Director, for supporting,
administering, and participating in the various working groups and
initiatives we run.  

Forums

*       Primary responsibility to run the organizational side of our
semi-annual DLF Forums

Publication and Outreach

*       Support for the various XML-based publishing enterprises; shares
responsibility for the website updating and for the preparation of
master documents for xhtml, PDF and print-on-demand publishing. 

*       Role in increasing the outreach to our members and in increasing
the visibility of our work beyond the membership

*       Opportunity to write articles for CLIR, DLF, and other
publications on specific DLF initiatives

Location: Washington, DC

Qualifications:  An advanced degree and a library background are highly
desirable, as are demonstrable organizational skills and evidence of
strong oral and written communication skills. 

Travel: The job requires a willingness to travel, to attend DLF Forums,
DLF initiative meetings, and digital library conferences.

POSITION:       Product Manager - Digital Archive

DIVISION:       Digital Content Management Services
LOCATION:       Dublin, Ohio

RESPONSIBILITIES:	

*       Define, implement, and support OCLC's Digital Archive services
in the emerging field of digital preservation.

*       Use your background in library science, archives, or information
technology to collaboratively identify services needed by libraries,
museums, archives, and other cultural institutions supporting their
needs for preserving access to their digital collections.

*       Develop and execute business plans for new Digital Archive
services and programs.

*       Lead cross-divisional activities with your staff, software
engineering, corporate marketing, sales, systems operations, finance,
customer support, and documentation to ensure continued success current
services and introduction of new services.

*       Participate in strategic planning for digital library services
to meet future needs.

REQUIREMENTS:	
*       Masters degree in Library Science, Computer & Information
Science, Business, or Marketing or equivalent academic/experience
combination.

*       Minimum of five years library and/or business experience, 7-10
years preferred.

*       Ability to manage and motivate staff to complete projects on
schedule, within budget, and in accordance with user requirements.

*       Ability to stay on top of and grasp significance of new
technologies, standards, and other information industry innovations, and
to exploit and apply them to distributed systems. 

*       Previous staff management and previous product, project, or
program management experience required.

*       Strong analytical skills, sound grasp of statistical and
financial concepts, and expertise with related software programs (e.g.
Excel, Access.)

*       Essential physical functions: May require periods of 30% travel.

*       Incumbent must be able to communicate with customers via
telephone, email and paper mail. 

*       Incumbent must be able to read and comprehend professional
literature and documents and plans, and to work efficiently with
spreadsheets to produce data analyses.

*       Incumbent must be capable of facilitating productive
interactions among a diversity of employees and agencies to produce
assignments on time.
