ARL and CNI announce a one day forum, "E-Research and Supporting 
Cyberinfrastructure:  A Forum to Consider the Implications for Research 
Libraries & Research Institutions" on Friday, October 15, 2004 at the 
Westin Grand Hotel in Washington, DC. 

The forum will address the issues that the shift to e-research and 
concomitant demands for cyberinfrastructure support raise for research 
institutions.  It will focus particularly on library and information 
technology strategies and organizations. 

This is a strategic and non-technical forum intended for senior 
decision makers in research institutions, including provosts and vice 
presidents for research and academic affairs, directors of research 
libraries and senior library managers, CIOs and senior information 
technology managers. 

Speakers include:

Dan Atkins, chair of the NSF Blue Ribbon Panel on cyberinfrastructure
George Djorgovski, Professor of Astronomy at Caltech
Paul Courant, Provost at University of Michigan
San Kim, Director of Division of Shared Cyberinfrastructure, NSF

Registration fee:  $150 for ARL and/or CNI members; $250 for non-members
Registration deadline:  October 7
