Managing Digital Assets: Strategic Issues for Research Libraries- October 28

We want to call your attention to a one-day forum on "Managing Digital

Assets: Strategic Issues for Research Libraries" sponsored by ARL, CNI, CLIR, and DLF.  This important forum will take place Friday, October 28, 2005, at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC, immediately following the ARL Membership Meeting.

The forum will explore the strategic implications of repositioning research libraries to manage digital assets for their institutions.

Donald J. Waters, Program Officer, Scholarly Communication, The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, will open the forum with a broad overview of several issues and developments surrounding Digital Asset Management.

Three program sessions will follow to address and engage the audience in discussions of institutional policies, emerging federal policies for asset management, and the state of tools available to take on these roles. The focus of this forum is on strategic issues of concern to senior decision makers in research institutions, including provosts and vice presidents for research and academic affairs, directors of research libraries and senior library managers, and CIOs and other senior information technology managers.

Plan now to attend and to bring a colleague from your institution to what promises to be an excellent opportunity to learn and exchange ideas with colleagues.

A schedule is available on the ARL Web site at http://www.arl.org/forum05/schedule.html

The registration deadline is October 14. Register at https://db.arl.org/forum05/
