The Society for Imaging Science and Technology (IS&T) is pleased to announce the Preliminary Program for the third Archiving Conference to be held May 23-26, 2006, Library and Archives Canada, Ottawa, Canada.

Archiving 2006 continues the tradition of assembling diverse groups from industry, academia, government institutions, not-for-profit organizations, libraries, museums, and research labs who share a commitment to addressing the challenges of archiving modern and historic materials.

The technical papers program is arranged in a single-track format to promote the interchange of information across specialties in the field and each day begins with a keynote address. There are more than 30 oral presentations to be given over the course of three days, and 23 Interactive Papers will be presented Thursday afternoon.

Archiving 2006 also features a comprehensive tutorials program organized into four tracks: Scanning, Hardcopy Images, Digital Imaging, and Moving Images. Courses are offered on the Tuesday, the day before the conference technical program begins.

Special events are planned as well, including a Late Breaking News report from the Open Content Alliance, “Behind the Scenes” tours of Ottawa museums and the Gatineau Preservation Centre, and the Conference Reception, held at the Canadian Museum of Civilization.
