Nominations and applications are sought for the position of Senior
Director of Digital Library Technologies, a unit of Information
Technology Services at The Pennsylvania State University. Responsible to
the Vice Provost, Information Technology Services, for managing,
coordinating and directing the overall operations and activities of
Digital Library Technologies (DLT) to support the University Libraries'
with technology infrastructure and other associated services. 

The Senior Director actively participates with the Vice Provost,
Information Technology Services staff and other members of Digital
Library Technologies in developing and implementing broad policy
decisions on the management and use of computing systems in support of
the University's academic, research, service and scholarly
communications missions at all Penn State campuses for all faculty,
staff and students. The successful candidate will work closely with
librarians and computing professionals to guide University Libraries (37
libraries on 24 campuses) technology services into the 21st century. 

We seek a candidate who has a strong technical background with a passion
for leading and communicating a shared vision throughout a university
computing environment; can demonstrate a command of emerging trends in
academic libraries, information technology and scholarly communication
while participating successfully and collaboratively in a collegial
environment which encourages innovation; will collaboration closely and
effectively with the Dean of University Libraries, other members of
Library Administration, IT staff of the University Libraries. Areas of
responsibility include, but are not limited to, systems planning and
development, user support, vendor selection and partnership development,
Big Ten computing and library initiatives, computer and communications
equipment selection and operations, budget control, personnel
management, training and development of the staff and University
academic and research community with respect to library computing
opportunities and overall administration of DLT activities. 

A Bachelor's degree is required (Master's degree preferred)plus 5 years
of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and
experience.
