For immediate release Contact: Kathlin Smith 202-939-4754 ([log in to unmask]) SUSAN PERRY APPOINTED CLIR INTERIM PRESIDENT June 8, 2006, WASHINGTON, D.C.<The Board of the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR) today announced the appointment of Susan Perry as interim president, effective July 1. ³We feel very fortunate that Ms. Perry has agreed to lead CLIR as the Board continues its search for a permanent president,² said Chairman Charles Phelps. ³Her energy, ability, and years of experience with CLIR, as well as her reputation in the field, will serve the organization well in the months ahead.² Susan Perry will succeed Nancy Davenport, who steps down June 30. Ms. Perry joined the CLIR staff in 2001 on assignment from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. As director of programs at CLIR, her portfolio has included serving as co-dean of the Frye Leadership Institute, and as staff officer for the Academic Librarians Advisory Committee, the CLIR Chief Information Officers Group, and the initiative for workflow restructuring. Ms. Perry has simultaneously served as a senior advisor to the Mellon Foundation, working on a range of initiatives for liberal arts colleges¹ library and information technology services. Ms. Perry was formerly director of library, information, and technology services at Mount Holyoke College, where her work focused on integrating the college¹s library and information technology services. ³I am honored to be asked to lead the staff during this transition,² said Ms. Perry, ³and to support the fine work CLIR has done over the years in serving as a catalyst for moving library, information, and scholarly communication issues forward.² The Council on Library and Information Resources is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the management of information for research, teaching, and learning.
