Library Associates seeks an Acquisitions/Cataloging Library Technician in Downtown Los Angeles. The technician will work with the Subscriptions and Book Services group in the Research Library, acquiring, cataloging and processing information material. This person also interacts with associates in any of the U.S. offices, Finance and Accounting, other groups within the Research Library, and numerous vendors and suppliers. Responsibilities * Acquisitions for all the U.S offices: * Pre-order searching, vendor selection, order placement, invoice processing, reviewing incoming shipments for accuracy and completeness, resolving problems with delivery, access and payments, * Serving as the library's liaison with vendor representatives * Managing standing orders * Obtaining copyright permissions. * Cataloging: * Copy cataloging with the assignment of LC classification and subject headings, * Some original cataloging, and maintaining the catalog database in the library system software. * Cataloging non-print material such as electronic formats, database and website access, and online collections of books. * Collection responsibilities include preparing materials for library's physical collections (applying labels and book jackets), shelving collection material, and assisting with collection development.
