Posting Summary

Drexel University Libraries are seeking an energetic manager for
library systems to help move the libraries to 21st century library
technology and services. The successful candidate will have primary
responsibility for managing the Integrated Library System (III
Millenium), and related infrastructure and applications.  The
successful candidate will enjoy working in a team-based organization
with a strong emphasis on customer service for both local and distance
learning support.

Reporting to the Head of Library Systems, the Systems Manager manages
all aspects of the ILS for the Drexel University Libraries (Hagerty,
Health Sciences, and Law Libraries) including implementation,
configuration, and updates; integrates the ILS with other campus
servers and services such as Banner, and other Library servers and
services such as Inter-library Loan and OpenURL servers; ensures a
robust, secure, flexible and maintainable IT infrastructure to support
library services and strategic initiatives.


Qualifications

Required:
- Bachelor's degree from accredited institution
- 3-5 years professional experience, at least 2 years in a systems
  administration role
- Demonstrated analytical, project management, and communications skills
- Demonstrated familiarity with TCP/IP networking, systems integration,
  security best practices and implementation, Windows or Unix/Linux
  systems administration

Preferred:
Academic library experience
Experience with an integrated library system such as Innovative
Advanced degree or coursework in a relevant field
Relational database management experience, familiarity with SQL

Strong analytical skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and strong
service orientation.

Strong technical background in the following areas:
- Support of networked computers
- Implementing resources for users in a networked environment
- Working in a client/server and network application environment

- Academic library experience
- At least two years' professional experience
- Working knowledge of scripting languages (such as PHP or JavaScript)


Responsibilities

Manage, configure, modify, and update Integrated Library System across
all modules and all libraries.  Working with department head,
interface with all library departments to: investigate, recommend, and
implement enhancements and additional products for ILS functionality;
coordinate system-wide policies between departments; and arrange for
necessary training with ILS vendor for library staff .  Proactively
provide staff training, support, and documentation for ILS
functionality.  Coordinate management of other Library based
application servers including Illiad Inter-Library Loan, UniPrint, and
backend MS SQL server and their integration.  Coordinate and implement
service integration with central campus computing, bursar, and other
campus systems as necessary.  Evaluate systems performance, recommend
replacements and upgrades, and coordinate rollout for all library
systems Oversee management and security of all staff and public
workstations.  Keep abreast of IT developments and participate in
planning, implementing, documenting and assessing current and future
library systems.  Assume duties of department head during his/her
absence Provides direct supervision to 2-3 systems staff members.
