Library System Developer

General Description:
The Sheridan Libraries’ System Developer will be responsible for supporting, developing and administering modules for the Integrated Library System (ILS) (currently running Horizon 7.3)

Position will maintain, compile, and modify data into Horizon database tables; install and upgrade ILS and organize user testing; customize system modules, manage user accounts and securities; analyze user problems and consult with the vendor and technical support staff to develop solutions; interpret user requirements, develop technical specs, write programming/queries/scripts to report, update and enhance database record and performance. Will develop technical solutions to connect disparate system, data sources and user interfaces with integrated library system; conduct user assessment analysis, systems analysis, participate in life-cycle application development, and maintain online technical documents; and lead projects, participate in R&D, liaison with vendors and act as point of technical contact for ILS user communities. Position will be responsible for other duties as required by the scope of this position.

Hutzler Undergraduate Reading Room. Its primary constituency is the students and faculty in the schools of Arts & Sciences, Engineering, and Professional Studies in Business & Education. Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree; 3+ years progressively responsible related ILS experience (Master’s degree is preferred and may be substituted for some experience). Position requires experience with library technical services functions; In-depth knowledge of MARC formats. Must possess analytic and problem-solving skills; demonstrated aptitude for technical analysis; excellent oral and written communication skills; and the ability to work in a team-based environment and manage multiple tasks concurrently. Significant years of additional experience may be substituted for education requirement.

Preferred Qualifications:
Masters in Library and Information Science or other related field. Working knowledge of Apache, Tomcat, Java/JSP; database design and administration with major relational RDBMS; PHP, XML, XSLT, CSS, Perl, or other programming skills.
