Organizations without OAI data providers are now able to contribute
collection metadata to DLF Aquifer's American Social History Online
through an OAI static repository gateway hosted by the University of
Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. More information about the static
repository is available on the DLF
Aquifer wiki, where there is also collections policy information
and instruction for submitting collections to the project.
Collections included in American Social History Online are becoming
easier to find as search engine optimization on the website encourages
discovery by commercial search services. Material in each contributed
collection is easy to use in combination with complementary material in
other collections through a flexible user interface and links to Zotero for Firefox users and the Collectus
and Image Viewer Tool from the University of Virginia.
Libraries and other cultural heritage organizations are encouraged to
share openly accessible collections pertaining to American culture and
life through DLF Aquifer's American Social History Online. For more
